The brother of the prime suspect in the alleged kidnapping of model Chloe Ayling has been arrested in the UK.

Michal Konrad Herba, 36, was arrested in a suburb of Birmingham on Wednesday morning as part of the investigation into the model's ordeal.

Ayling has described how she was lured to a fake photoshoot, drugged, stuffed into a car boot and held for six days in a remote farmhouse in Italy before being released by her captor.

Lukasz Pawel Herba, the alleged kidnapper, was arrested in Italy in July and is in the custody of Italian police.

Michal Herba, his brother, was arrested by Britain's National Crime Agency (NCA) on the request of Italy's Polizia di Stato.

He is due to appear tomorrow at Westminster Magistrates Court, according to an NCA press release.

According to MailOnline, the two Herba brothers lived together in a council flat before the kidnapping.

Michal Herba had been mentioned in previous reports of the kidnapping as a periphery figure, but was not considered to be a suspect until the arrest.

The Daily Mirror said that Michal Herba told the pair's mother about the kidnapping investigation.

She gave the most in-depth account of her story in an interview with the Mail on Sunday and attacked people who have doubted her.

She said: "It has been so frustrating and hurtful to have people not believe me and to cast doubt on what I have been through. So many lies have been said. But I know the truth, the police know the truth and it will all come out at the trial."

She also appeared on the This Morning talk show on Monday and gave her side of the story again:
